It is standard practice in the hosting industry to implement "Domain Parking" which is when holding pages are placed on unused or expired domain names.

 

This prevents an unused or expired domain name resolving to a blank page, and the holding page will contain advertising listings and links as relevant as possible to the domain name itself and targeted to the predicted interests of the visitor.
